Survival Tips
What an adventure this class has been. I must admit this
class has taught me a lot about myself, some I learned during the online
assignments, when it was time for me to post things and some, I learned during
the group projects. I will say, that in an online class you must have
discipline and you must have dedicated time to commit to the class. It has been
a journey. I have grown in the class, and wish everyone a successful future as
an adult learner. For future learners that plan to take this class here a few
survival tips:
1.
Be patient
2.
Communicate with your group
3.
Stay in constant communication with your
professor
5.
Ask lots of questions
6.
Set realistic goals for yourself during the
course
7.
Expect to do things more than once
8.
Make yourself personal deadlines
9.
Have fun with it.
10.
Surround yourself by people who can encourage
you.

Gigi Brown's Week 16 post
1.
Your life, your good news, your struggles and
challenges during this week;
One of the biggest challenges for me was
interpreting what my classmates posting really meant. Even though we were all responding to the same
questions, my perceptions at times were very different then my classmates. Also, there was time when I felt very isolated
in this class. It was difficult to form
a bond with others.
2.
Your suggestions for your group members on how
to have better discussions and how to conduct group work more efficiently;
Some recommendations for group assignment
make sure you bond with your group maybe meet at least once for coffee to
discuss the assignment; clearly identify the assignment. Make certain all group members understand
their roles when completing the assignment. Determine what the final outcome
will look like.
3.
Your suggestions for your instructor on how to
better facilitate your learning;
I would recommend a assignment
checklist for completing group projects.
4.
Additional things that you want to share with
us.
I learned a lot in this class about educating
adult learners. I am better off at the
end of this semester, than I was in the beginning. I will be a better Adult Educator because of
this class.
Congratulations on a successful semester and providing all of us with information and examples that will continue to challenge us in the months to come. Best wishes on the next steps on your journeys!

Your audio introduction was nicely done and offered an easily to follow outline of your project. Your understanding of spiritual learning was clearly demonstrated. Thank you for all your hard work.

Thanks for the audio overview of your Program Demonstration. I loved the obvious commitment you had to learning about spiritual learning and the practical application you focused upon to apply it. Prisoners are indeed a marginalized and stigmatized part of the adult population. Your focus on such a core learning focus of spirituality is important.
ReplyDeleteThis course is definitely a challenging one. It was stretching for me as well. I am glad to hear about your own growth and development in the course.

I like the top 10 approach to your survival memo. You laid out some clear and practical tips!

I certainly agree with your survival tips especially in regards to communication, setting deadlines and goals, and not being afraid to ask questions. One thing I can say is; when a group is in the process of brainstorming for ideas, it is hard to see if everyone is on the same page unless you ask questions. This is certainly true in an online learning environment. There is a serious time commitment involved with taking online that some don't realize until they have "entered in". :)

Enjoyed listening to your introduction to your project. I really like how you addressed patience and forgiveness. Quite often when people seek spirituality in their lives they want to know how they can be forgiven and/or want other to be patient with them. They don't realize they also need to forgive and be patient with others.

Excellent audio introduction of your project, Gigi! I am very impressed about your optimistic attitude and your cheerful personality! No matter how many times you had to re-do your assignments, you always tried your best without complaints. You understood your topic quite well. With a little bit training, I am sure you can successfully achieve your goals.
