October Monthly Summary

Angela commented on October Summary for group 1 and 4
Gigi Brown commented on Group 1

We are now racing to the finish line, with over half the class complete. We are continuing to push forward and making sure that we are all caught up on everything and working to make sure that we are ready for the final project. Gigi and I both have learned to better manage our time and our work flow. I think after reading through the assignments 2 and 3 times we are now gathering what it is we are supposed to be doing. We have also made some significant strides on spiritual reflection. With all the research we have done, we have been looking at our own spiritual growth and reflecting on how we appear to others and how we have grown in class, work and church over this last semester. I really appreciate getting an opportunity to read others blogs because it captures some of the things that I may have missed in the reading. The month of October was spent working together as group and making sure that we didn’t miss any assignments and we thoroughly read through the directions. Doing the Program Investigation completely allowed me to really take a deep dive into spiritual learners that are ex-offenders and it was interesting to me that different programs that are out there. We broadened our knowledge on the spiritual learning for ex-offenders, it was so much to learn about them. There are so many factors that affect a person but when you have a spiritual base, it makes it much easier to deal with problems and life in general. As an adult learner, I have grown in the class over the last few months, and have gotten great information from others blogs.  It is still a challenge to make sure everything gets done on time and that we understand the assignments, but we have both taken a proactive stand and decided to start working ahead on projects that we are doing together, just in case we don’t understand them, we have time for questions.

Overall, we are already looking at our next project and designing a time line for it. We are now giving each other assignments which really helped on our program investigation. As a group we are working on assigning tasks with deadlines, and it seems to working well for us. Our next project that is due is Program Evaluations, we both have selected a person to review them for us and to provide the good and the bad so we working on making sure that is done. It is on radar to have this assignment completed on November 9th or before. I posted the picture below because that is where I am today and especially after gaining more knowledge on spiritual learning.

  1. It was good to read your monthly review. I really appreciated your openness in sharing the highs and the lows. I also am experiencing the same kind of insights from the the learning theory that our group is working on and getting a better feel for the other theories from each of you. I really like your graphic at the end. Balancing everything is definitely a challenge. It seems like in one way or the other that everyone in the class is having to push through those places that one might be tempted to quit or give up. I'm so glad you are pushing through this challenge and finding new stability to work from. Thanks for sharing your journey!

  2. I read your blog because I'm walking a spiritual journey now. I was diagnosed with breast cancer in April, this journey has been a testament to the power of God. You made a powerful statement of 'there are so many factors that affect a person but when you have a spiritual base, it makes it much easier to deal with problems and life in general." My soul absolutely screams in agreement with you. I know my confidence in God is my foundation in believing I will be healed and restored to wholeness. I know the journey He has purposed me to walk is a spiritual lesson for others and self; so I am comforted in knowing that He is with me and He heals me.

    ----- Angela and Gigi,

This is a very sincere summary! I know you both made progress in this course, and your program design paper is the best one among all the assignments you have completed! I think you both have a very good understanding of what you have read, and you just need to learn some skills to help you to have a better shape in terms of how to systematically manage your time and do your assignments as you have planned.

I also suggest that you two carefully check your assignments to make sure that you follow the guidelines in our syllabus, and you do not mix up one assignment with another. This will train you to do things in a professional way. Once you have developed this habit and do this as a routine, it will be very beneficial for you.

    Bo
